Fray Jorge Forest National Park

This wonderful relic of nature, unique in its kind located in the middle of the semi-arid coastal area of Chile, was created in 1941 in order to protect one of the most important ecosystems in Chile.

The formation of the Fray Jorge Forest is mainly due to the presence of the Camanchaca, a dense coastal fog that comes from the Pacific Ocean and that provides humidity to the area. These humidity conditions together with the specific climatic conditions of the place allow the development of a unique vegetation, similar to that of the Valdivian Forests of southern Chile and that allow us to observe a large number of flora species such as Olivillos (Aetoxicum punctatum), Medallitas (Sarmienta scandens), Copihues (Lapageria rosea), cinnamon trees among others, and where birds such as the Rayadito (Aphrastrura spinicauda) have found their home.

Walking along the trails of the Fray Jorge National Park is like entering a fairy tale, where every tree, bush and corner holds secrets to discover. The freshness of the air, and the exuberance the vegetation and its beautiful views of the sea will envelop you in an atmosphere of peace and serenity, perfect for  reconnecting with nature and recharging your energies.

We invite you to take a leisurely tour of this wonderful place.
